Fill the Power wins at Wetherby

Having just returned from Sedgefield, it was great to see Sue Smith train two of the winners on the card, Whiskey Ridge and Bennys Well, thus rubber stamping the rich vein of form the yard is having this season. The McGoldrick syndicate was also the benefactor of this rich vein of form when, 8 days after Pinerolo romped home at Catterick, good old Fill the Power at last showed us what he is capable of by winning nicely at Wetherby, and in doing so, “bullied the others into submission” …Peter Naughtons words on RUK, not mine.
Apart from the thrill of having two winners on the trot within eight days, it was particularly pleasing that with FTP`s latest performance, there was no sign of the customary flat spot in the middle of his races which we had come to expect, and which was especially frustrating as he was always doing his best work at the finish without getting his nose in front where it mattered. It`s true to say that all of FTP`s three career wins have come by making most of the running, and staying on from the front, thus running the finish out of the opposition, whereas, even though commendable in defeat, waiting tactics….as per the Scottish National…just don`t seem to work. Perhaps you may have your own opinions.
Anyway, it was a great day at Wetherby, where we always get well looked after, and we now look forward to the treble, as Pinerolo has just been declared to run at Newcastle tomorrow…Sat 22nd Feb. Finally, and not before time, over the next two / three weeks, this website will be getting a lick of paint, so to speak, which I hope will be well received by my faithful few followers. Richard
