McGoldrick Horse Racing Syndicate Yorkshire

... shared racehorse ownership at its best ...

Becky the Thatcher

I referred earlier to my small, but select band of long standing Syndicate members. These actually total just ten, including myself.

Six months ago, the member from Nantwich, suggested he would be interested in “a leg” of a young flat horse for us to extend our interests during the summer months whilst our Jumpers were on holiday.

It was down to me to accommodate him.

Fast forward to today, and we have Becky the Thatcher, trained by Micky Hammond, a 2yo filly by the young, prodigious sire Mastercraftsman, who has already run twice in our colours.

First time out, an inauspicious debut for her first day at school at Thirsk on 28th Aug., but seven days later, at the same track, she went into many peoples notebooks when a fast finishing 2nd to an expensive Godolphin horse Lovell, prompting Niall Hannity on RUK replay to comment that Micky Hammond has got a very smart 2yo on his hands.

If you can access the RUK archive website, please watch the race, and you can see for yourself how right Hannity was.  Thirsk 5th September, 2-30pm race.

Micky was delighted, as was jockey PJ McDonald, who commented, it was the outside draw that beat her. Watch for yourself, and I think you`ll find it hard to disagree with PJ.
