MISTER McGOLDRICK – GONE BUT NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN

The following comments are from Kevin and Pam at NEW BEGINNINGS,  Mister McGoldricks  home for the whole 14 years of his retirement life.

It is with great sadness that we announce that yesterday, Tuesday 23rd July, Mister McGoldrick, aka “Mac” passed away at the grand old age of 27 years.

Admired and remembered for his 66/1 win at Cheltenham in 2008, he was a warrior of a racehorse with the heart of a lion and an absolute gentleman of a racehorse, who was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

On retirement in 2012, he came here as one of our ambassador horses, and along with “Harry” (Golden Hello) and Meg they flew the flag for all former racehorses, touching the hearts of many who met them on various Yorkshire Racecourses.

Everything we asked “Mac” to do, from parading to dressage….schoolmaster, photo shoots, leading a funeral cortege, even an advert in the centre of Liverpool, he did so generously and willingly.

He was the perfect example of the versatility of a former racehorse.

We are all extremely sad and will miss him every day, but we were honoured  to have had him in our care, and indeed our lives for so long.

RIP Mister McGoldrick,  time now to run free again with your old pal Harry
