Becky the Thatcher stable visit

Talk about idyllic.  Lovely bright morning  sunshine,  snow topped hills all around… horses at work on the gallops, and  Joe Colliver saying ” she`s the best I`ve  ridden”

As if you needed telling…. Joe was on board our filly Becky the Thatcher

Joe`s a NH jockey I know, and every opinion is relative, but I`m sure he knows a decent horse when he rides one.

My opinion is relative also, but its been nearly six months since I`d seen Becky, yet even to this untrained eye, the sight from which which was slightly impaired by the snowflake effect of a migraine attack, it was still clear enough for me to see how much she has grown.

Back at the yard, as Joe Colliver was unsaddling her, he told me what a great feel she has started to give him, and he commented on her strong galloping action, and how much ground she covers in her stride when asked to quicken…. “I really like her” he said…..”she`ll jump a hurdle as well.”

One thing at a time please Joe !

Micky was understandably more cautious, content to say “she`s a lovely horse and I`m very pleased with her”

He then produced his clip board and showed me two races he had pencilled in for her first race of the season, saying she needs a step up in trip.

Watch this space.

Photos just in below.. Becky flying up Mickys gallops enjoying her work….look at the magnificent background as well.

She was then very amenable to having her photo taken back at the yard, from which its clear to see just what a really fine stamp of a horse she is.
