BECKY THE THATCHER……
Micky Hammond, despite her two wins over hurdles, is keen for Becky to lose her maiden tag on the flat.
We have been waiting for suitable ground conditions, but everywhere the ground has been either firm or good to firm.
However, the rain has arrived and as a consequence we have entered Becky at Carlisle on Monday 22nd May in the 2ml 1f Class 5 51-70 h/cap off at 5.25pm.
Becky has a rating of 122 over hurdles, but only 58 on the flat, so she will be nicely weighted, and should run a big race.
A win would do no harm whatsoever to her CV as a valuable brood mare.
STARBOARD WATCH
After her first outing at Catterick recently which proved to be disappointing, James Given has entered Starboard Watch in a 1 mile maiden race at Nottingham on Tuesday 23rd May… the day after Beckys run at Carlisle, and all we can hope for is the longer distance and more suitable track will eke out some improvement from her.
Very early days yet, however James firmly believes she has the ability to win races, so members are happy to go along with his opinion, and watch her career progress.
