becky the thatcher

Wetherby 4th Feb 2017

After Becky the Thatchers excellent run to finish 2nd to an Alan King hot pot at Catterick on 12th January, jockey Finian O`Toole told us ” there`s definitely more to come”   …and he was certainly proved right at Wetherby last Saturday 4th Feb.

Yet again it was an expensively bought mare, this time trained by Dan Skelton that beat us, though we were able to see off two Southern raiders from the yards of P J Hobbs and M Channon.

It irritates me enormously, see previous post on Beckys website page, but these guys are not breaking any rules,  just exploiting the poor state of NH Racing in the North

Becky ran an excellent race prompting Micky Hammond to state he was “over the moon” with her performance. Timeform comment “she is improving with experience”

It`s true to say she is a genuine sort who has taken well to hurdling, but just how to interpret the form so far is difficult.

So well done Becky for giving us a good start to our double header at Wetherby, and we`ll take the £954 prize money….less deductions of course, followed by travel costs and jockeys riding fee, and with whats left it might just run to fish n chips all round at the Wetherby Whaler chip shop for members who were present on the day.

I`m sure Micky would also ensure Becky got extra rations and carrots for her efforts

No news yet of where / when we race again
