Smiles at last for Starboard Watch members

Well it took a long time coming, but finally Starboard Watch has begun to repay the faith that James Given always had in her, and also the patience of members, who, its true to say, were beginning to wobble a bit after some moderate performances.

So we move from frustration to optimism as our filly was seen, at last, to be getting the hang of things, under an exemplary ride from James Sullivan, who certainly impressed me with the patient ride he gave her.

I was unable to travel to Redcar, but watched the race on RUK, and within seconds of the result, James was on the phone both delighted with how well she had run, but also relieved, having just proven to us guys that we`ve got a racehorse at last.

Early days yet, but there was a lot to like about her performance, and getting into handicaps right now will be a lot easier than it has been recently off her mark of 46.

Lord knows how the handicapper will react, but whatever he decides, right now it will do us no harm at all.

Thanks to Rob and Steph and Dean and Liz for adding a touch of glamour to proceedings……not sure who wore the captains armband in my absence, but it will stay where it is for now.

SW ate up and was well the morning after the race, so shouldn`t be too long before the opportunity arises for her to lose her maiden tag next time out.

Now my prediction to Peter Naughton on RUK a few weeks ago at Catterick that we had a horse to watch out for was correct, and I`ll be reminding him next time we meet    for sure.

Richard
